PJ Smyth

If you cut PJ Smyth...he bleeds two things: leadership and empowerment. PJ's fascination with what makes a leader a leader began at school where he repeatedly found himself leading the charge. After university, he honed his teaching skills at a high school in rural Zimbabwe, and then founded his first church in Harare (at the tender age of 25) that grew to 1,000 members in 5 years. After hearing a clear call from God, PJ decided to put his leadership principles to the test in the heart of Johannesburg, South Africa, where he started another church, which in the last 5 years has grown to 1,200 members and 1,800 regular attendees.

In his passion to help others put the lead back into leadership, PJ is an author and international speaker on matters of leadership, and has been a keynote speaker at the Newfrontiers Leadership Conference for the last five years in the UK, where 5,000 leaders gather annually for leadership training. His book, "The World Needs More Leaders" is the most popular leadership training manual within the global church movement of Newfrontiers. PJ and his wife Ashleigh have three sons, Jack, Ben and Sam.
